Great Primate Handshake & Soft Power Education, Uganda
I'm back and the 6 weeks in Uganda has gone so very quickly. The first part of my trip with the Great Primate Handshake was really good with us making educational content for Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, amazing community environmental programmes just outside Hoima and working with Kasiisi School by Fort Portal on their conservation programmes. I will post links to some of the videos when I get them, but the Handshake are out in Kenya at the moment so will grab them when I get back. A great time and it was all over too quickly. Lots of work done and quite a bit of fun also with rafting on the White Nile.

I also had two further weeks in Uganda after the Handshake was finished as I wanted to spend more time there. So I volunteered with Soft Power Education in Jinja in the south east of Uganda. They do a lot of work re-furbishing and building schools, have built a medical centre and run a very pro-active special needs programme amongst many other fantastic education projects. I have been painting schools and helping out with the special needs education and I have thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Meeting and working with people from all over the world and doing work that is very much needed feels very rewarding. I can recommend working with them and intend to go back out there next year.

Thanks once again for everyone who sponsored me to go out there as you have helped two very worthwhile organisations.

Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge - We've done it!

More Photos from the Challenge >>
Well we've done it! Can't quite believe it's over, the day went so fast. After a good sleep last night the legs are feeling rather good this morning. Both James and I are still buzzing after yesterday and it's not all down to the copious amounts of fresh air we've had. 20 miles 6,500 feet and all done in a day! And we finished half an hour ahead of schedule at 7.30pm.

Thanks not only to everyone who came with us up Cadair and Pen y Fan but especially to
Ma and Pa who kept us going, made breakfast, fed us and drove us everywhere!
Over coffee and cake today, James and I have already started planning the next challenge. I think the bug has well and truly bitten.
Thanks to all who sponsored us. To date we've raised over £800 for the Great Primate Handshake which is really fantastic!

'The Horse' Shortlisted for Ffresh Awards
'The Horse; his industry, our industry' has been shortlisted in the Factual Category of the Ffresh Student Moving Image Festival of Wales on 12th Feb.
The judges commented that 'This was fantastically shot, well structured and revealed real visual flair. The interviewees were brilliant and shed fascinating light on the subject. It was an unknown and unappreciated snapshot into the horse and its place in all aspects of Welsh life and culture. It was a perfect way to explore a wider history through a single prism (i.e. the horse). I could see this being broadcast on television tomorrow: it thoroughly deserved to be a finalist.'
Update - The Award for this category went to 'Tough Guy 453' a brilliant docu on a challenge that makes what I'm doing in May seem like a doddle. Well done guys!
