Walks Spring/Summer 2017
Walks for artists, creatives and those who want to re-connect.
Ancient Journeys are walks that lead you to wild and beautiful places to give you the opportunity to be uplifted and re-energised. Walks will have some element of storytelling or an encounter along the way. There will be space created for you to sketch, paint, photograph or just be in the environment. Some tuition in photography and sketching is included. Small group sizes.
5th February – Imbolc Springing 10.00 – 16.00 £30
Climb the sides of the Twrch river where once ran a sacred boar to find a secret spring that never runs dry. Ystradowen (M)
24th February – Art Walk 10.00 – 15.00 £20
From the Craig-nos Country Park discover hidden caves and quarries. Draw with the earth at your feet and find the stories in the rocks. CYNCP (P)
19th March – Footsteps of Saints 10.00 – 16.00 £30
Ancient sites rub shoulders with Christian Chapels on the hills above Pontardawe. A chance to explore old roads, stones and burial chambers PONTARDAWE (M)
9th April – Art Walk 10.00 – 15.00 £20
Explore a secret gorge to one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the Beacons. Keep an eye out for spring flowers and find your inspiration in the woods. Pen-y-Cae (P)
30th April – Beltane Blessings 10.00 – 16.00 £30
Summer is coming with May Day and the earth turns. A mountain, an ancient stone and a lake with a story. CYNCP (M)
21st June – Midsummer Solstice Sunset 19.00 – 23.00 £20
At the end of the longest day, say farewell to the sun from the top of Fan Brycheiniog. Then walk back into the dark to celebrate the turning of the year. (M)
(M) – Mountain walk with some longer uphills and uneaven ground.
(P) – Path walk with undulating ground and slower pace.

Ancient Journeys is run by Eleanor Flaherty MA BA(Hons) ML(S), an artist, photographer, film maker, storyteller and mountain leader. She has been walking the wild places all her life. She has led expeditions in high places in the Brecon Beacons, Nepal, Tanzania and Morocco and holds a summer Mountain Leader Award. She is fully insured and First Aid Trained.
