Everyone begins with 10 starting cards that provide basic movement or the unfortunate-yet-necessary Stumble card to generate CLANK. Building your deck throughout the course of the adventure, increasing your likelihood of getting greater treasures but also of incurring the wrath of Eradikus, the intrepid adventurers make their way through a spaceship fraught with danger at every step. Shake up the bag and draw the number of cubes respective to the Eradikus marker on the Rage Track (2 cubes, 3 cubes, et al) You could get lucky and draw all black cubes.

Anyway, so once the game comes to a close, everyone counts up their points which are a smorgasbord of things including the units you have collect, the cards you purchased and the artifact and other small treasures you found. There are also hyperlifts and telepads throughout the ship, making movement easier if you are able to access them. If they reach the end of their track before the end of the game, they are knocked out and are unable to complete the journey. Below the Adventure Row is the Reserve, which has a series of cards players can obtain or defeat in lieu of any of the cards in the adventure row. But you would think it would generate sword icons and be combat oriented as opposed to drawing cards.For those of you who spent great wads of emotional and mental capital on a TV show from 2004-10 like I did, this is Not Penny’s Boat. Many of them (like the Toxigenic Plague) refer to one of the new modules so you should definitely make sure that module is in play. I like the dungeon theme slightly more than space, but that won’t strongly sway me one way or another.

That said both versions are excellent and I would for sure check out which ever one of the themes interests you the most.

However, I just haven’t been able to get the Cyber Station 11 expansion to the table (other than using the cards) since I got it. It can sometimes feel like the cards are just icons while serving as a vehicle for an unrelated parody, and I definitely think there was room to combine the two better.You will find yourself more often than not flipping back and forth through the book trying to find something or reference something you thought you saw earlier. Eradicus, as conqueror of the galaxy, is a bit smarter than the dragon and has had a powerful security system installed that prevents anyone from entering the final tile without first cracking the security code.
